“Learning in Tech is all about collaboration, not a competition”

In this blog I am going to share about what is learning in public, different approaches that one should be getting started and benefits of learning in public.

Hang On! With me to know something new about learning in public.

First I was introduced to this concept of learning in public by Kunal's YouTube channel in open-source Café (youtu.be/d8AJEXmOBnI), Where Kunal and Anais, discuss learning in public.

I was like, this is how we need to learn, right! And why I was not introduced to this before in my engineering college, as I am a graduate now.

“Thanks to Kunal and Anais”.

Before going to the benefit's of learning in public, let's discuss

What is learning in public?

“It is sharing your learning's in public, which is available for all, whoever want to access”

Here are some different approaches of learning in public, what I have known.

  1. Creating Blogs.
  2. Contribute to Open source.
  3. Create your own YouTube content about your Learnings.
  4. Conducting a workshop at your college.
  5. Attending the events.
  6. Creating threads about your learnings.

And sharing all these on your socials where there are more opportunities of collaboration like may be on Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn.

I do like to post on Twitter. Because, I feel twitter is the platform we can find more opportunities.

You may disagree!

(One can start any of the above approach you are comfortable with)

Some Reasons why one should learn in public.

  1. You are not only creating content for community on your learning's in the process you are making yourself strong in the concepts that you are learning.

  2. You will be having access to your own learnings which helps in documenting your journey and revising the concepts when ever required.

  3. Our mistakes will be corrected by experts who are good in particular concept.

  4. Collaborating with the people who are learning the same will become easy, where learnings are enhanced by having discussions (sharing knowledge among community).

  5. It helps you to stay motivated and joyful by participating in #100ofcodechallenge, #90daysofdevops, #hacktoberfest and many more…

  6. Moreover, you will be having your proof of work, which helps you in getting opportunities.

In conclusion, it's all about creating your own brand, where you are the product for companies.

So, What's stopping you to start!
